Summary:
We had been in this particular iHOP before. But, again, I had to wonder why this location never has any cars in the parking lot no matter what time we went by. So, we popped in again about 9pm on a Wednesday night, and decided to give it a second try.
I love the jazz music they play, at just the right volume. I had the crab and shrimp omelet at $8.99, that was huge, and loaded with seafood ,topped with shredded cheese, paprika and chopped tomatoes.
Kim decided on the liver and onions at $6.99, and for soup he had the chile. He said the liver was very tender and good, I will take his word on it.
Normally, we share the food so we can compare notes. But, I don't eat liver.
He got fries, kernel corn, and Texas toast with this meal. The liver was two large slices, which are partially hidden by the corn placed on top of it.
The dining area was very clean, as were the restrooms.
The only thing I could say bad about the experience is the building is older, and some things show signs of wear, though not broken down, such as the carpeting, edges of the tables, and some chairs.
I am still puzzled by the sign on the door that says, " NO CONCEALABLE WEAPONS ALLOWED".
It really makes you wonder why they went to that length. It could be scaring off customers. I asked about it the first time we were there, before I would be seated, and it wasn't really explained properly to me at that time. They alluded to some over-reaction by management.
I decided on the pancakes, and upgraded to the nut and grain, for an extra $0.99. Thinking this was going to be a tiny omelet, I added hash browns at $1.99 as well. The photo above doesn't accurately show the size of the hash browns, which looked like a double order to me or accurately portray the 3. pancakes. The meal was hot, and excellent.
Our server, Allison, we also had the last time we were at this location. She was friendly, greeted us promptly, and gave us great service, both times.
The neighborhood seems safe, and Dennys is just a few blocks away and was full when we passed it on the way to IHOP, where there were only two other tables of customers here. Dennys seems to have no problems requiring this type of signage, and their parking lot is full most of the time.
The bill was $24.45, with a $5.00 tip for Allison, total came to $29.45
