Christmas was coming up, and we wanted to do something different. So, we made reservations at Horst Gasthaus German Restaurant and Bar. Different, it definitely was.
We were pleased to see things were pretty much as expected. Homemade quality German food, fabulous music, with nice authentic decor, and waitresses dressed in a variety of German costumes.
I had the Goulasch Suppe, a bowl, at $3.25, to begin with and it was very nice, served with a selection of store bought breads. The breads were disappointing. The homemade breads would have been nice. Then followed the Horst Gasthaus Platte, at $14.95.

I was served German potato salad and cucumbers in vinegar before the meal, The meal itself consisted of Sauerbraten, Bratwurst, Knackwurst, a dumpling, sweet red cabbage, and sauerkraut. Everything was excellent
Kim started with a bowl of the Goulasch Suppe as well, and had the Horst Gasthaus Special at $11.95, consisting of diced tender pork with sauteed mushrooms, ham green peppers and onion. In addition, it came with mashed potatoes with brown gravy, and red cabbage.
The deserts were fabulous, and very large portions, Black Forest Cake and German Chocolate Cake, at $3.50 each, both with whipped cream topping.
The entire meal came to $46.35, with a tip, total was $56.00. Our waitress was friendly, and gave excellent service. The entire restaurant was immaculately clean. We loved it. They received a 9, due to the store bought bread.
